SUBURRA 3

This Italian crime drama revolves around the unlikely friendship of Aureliano Adami, an Ostia-based gang member and Alberto “Spadino” Anacleti, a Sinti gang member, who team up to take control of Rome. To get to the top, they’ll have to face corrupt politicians and churchmen, the Sicilian Mafia and above all, Samurai, the head of Roman organized crime. There is no release date, but the third season will be its last.

MY BRILLIANT FRIEND

Female friendship is at the center of this series based on the Neopolitan novels written by Elena Ferrante. An elderly woman recounts the lifelong friendship and conflicts with a girl she met at primary school in Naples during the 1950s. The story goes on to cover more than 60 years of their lives.

LUNA NERA

This series entirely written and directed by women, is a fantasy rooted in historical reality about a group of women accused of witchery in 17th century Italy. Set in the Roman countryside during the Inquisition and religious fanaticism, it depicts the witch hunts, trials and burnings that they face.

FARGO SEASON 4

Set in Kansas City in the 1950s, the head of a Black crime family has a truce with the Italian-Jewish mob in town. As part of the truce, the two families exchange sons, but when the head of the Italian outfit dies during routine surgery, all bets are off.

THE NEW POPE

Starring Jude Law and John Malkovich, this nine-episode series created and directed by Paolo Sorrentino shows us what a modern papacy in the generation of Millennials can look like – neon lights, vanity and a soundtrack on Spotify.
